Simply wipe off the mouthpiece after every use. Use a damp cloth and then dry with a cloth or paper towel. Feel free to infuse a few drops of antiseptic solution onto a damp cotton ball and use this for cleaning if you are using the salt inhaler while you are fighting a cold or chest infection.
Approximately every 3 months or when you feel the air flow is becoming restricted or clogged, empty the salt container and clean your inhaler thoroughly. Run some warm water through the apparatus to dissolve any crystal particles. Either allow your pot air dry on its own or use a blow dryer to dry it faster.
There will be a noticeable difference in the salt level after you have consistently been using it for three months. It will be drastically lower than it was when you first started using it. You can refill the salt crystals by completely replacing them or adding some fresh stock to the original batch.
